Lady
Hi, there!
We just wanted to drop a quick note about Lady's first day home!!
After we picked her up, we made a quick stop at Petco for a tag, ear
wipes, tick/flea preventative, and she impressed us with how well socialized
she is.... Other dogs didn't phase her a bit; she was very polite and
friendly!
We got home, where she met the 20-pound cat (it was HILARIOUS to watch--cat's
pretty laid back and spent a lot of time petting himself on Lady). Then
we explored the yard, and she tried to catch a mole for us. All the
excitement must have worn her out--the rest of the night was naps followed
by a solid 8 hours of beauty sleep.
(We've decided to take the doggy bed back to the store for a refund;
Lady's going to use people furniture for snoozing.)
She's so well-behaved! We'd expected her to be very rambunctious and
food-motivated. Instead, she was wonderful while we ate dinner at the
coffee table--well within reach for her, but she sat politely next to
us and didn't help herself. She's actually quite calm, follows direction,
focuses on her alpha, and responds to commands and praise. Lady is a
smart girl!
She seems to think the cat is a mix between mentor (she follows him
when they're outside), a toy (she nudges him with her nose and "pats"
him to try to get him to move/play with her), a puppy (she cleans/nibbles
on him for bugs), and a pillow (see attached picture). They're getting
along better than we could have imagined!
Lady is a sweetheart! Thank you very much to the welfare league for
taking care of her so well until we found her, and a very sincere thank
you again to her foster parents who worked so hard with her on her manners
and nursed her back to health. She is a perfect Lady and a welcome addition
to our home!!
Thank you all so much,
Jen Borst
