Calvert Animal Welfare League (CAWL) in Calvert County, Maryland, is an all-volunteer animal rescue and education organization. We operate a state-of-the-art pet adoption and education center that provides a friendly , caring environment to promote the adoption of homeless dogs and cats until they are adopted. Serving Calvert County since 1992, CAWL places hundreds of dogs and cats in new homes each year. As a 100% community-supported animal adoption and education center, we depend on the generous support of the community. CAWL is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and a No-Kill Animal Rescue Organization.

In accordance with our by-laws, CAWL holds an annual election for members of the Board of Directors whose terms are expiring at the end of the year.

The CAWL Board of Directors is a governing body whose elected members manage the operation and administration of the organization. The Board consistes of no fewer than 5 and no more than 15 members who serve for 1 or 2 year terms.

CAWL Board members whose terms expire at the end of 2011 and are seeking to renew their positions are identified as “incumbents” on the ballot.

The election will be on Wednesday, January 18, between 5PM and 7PM, at the CAWL Adoption and Education Center located at 1040 Prince Frederick Boulevard, Prince Frederick MD. All votes must be cast in person.

Please see the sample ballot below for candidates. In order to vote, you must be a current member paid for 2011. Our membership year runs from April 2011 through March 2012. If you do not know if your membership is current, please contact Lois Flesner.

Blue Ribbon: $100 - $249
Honorable Mention: $30 - $49
