Finding loving homes for cats and dogs is our mission.

At CAWL, we always place animals in the best fit home. Never on a first come first serve basis.

  • Our mission is to serve the pets and people of Calvert County by operating a state of the art animal adoption and education center.

  • Our goal is to provide a friendly, caring environment to promote the adoption of unwanted, homeless animals and to be able to support these animals until they are adopted.

  • Our vision is to develop resources that allow us to offer educational programs that clearly define responsible pet care and respect for all animals.

Adoptable Cats and Dogs

Adoption hours are every Saturday from 11 am to 3 pm. All other times are by appointment only.

Want to Help CAWL?

We are always in need of volunteers to do animal caretaking, adoption counseling and even just walking our pups. If you want to help, you can volunteer, foster, or even donate some simple supplies or check out our wishlists!

Adoption Hours are every Saturday from 11:00 - 3:00!

Check out our awesome “Pets of the Month” below and come visit with them on Saturdays during our adoption hours! If you’d like to visit at another time, please email us at cawl@comcast.net to schedule.

Dog & Cat of the Month!

We like to showcase a special cat and dog each month that we know you will LOVE.

Meet Darla!

Meet Darla, the delightful foster pup who’s ready to steal your heart and become your new best friend! This energetic and athletic sweetheart loves nothing more than being part of a loving family. Whether it’s playing ball, going on car rides, or hitting the hiking trails, Darla is always up for an adventure. Her excellent recall and familiarity with her yard make her a reliable companion who genuinely enjoys being with her family.

Darla is a quick learner and easy to train. She doesn’t alert to go outside but she’s been accident-free indoors, and we take her out every three to five hours. She’s also a great overnight sleeper! She is crate trained however the last few months she’s had free rein of the house with no problems whatsoever.

While Darla isn’t a fan water, or getting wet, she’s surprisingly easy to bathe. She’s good on a leash, but has a strong sense of smell, which can sometimes lead to pulling. She’s aware of dogs in the neighborhood but remains calm unless they’re also out walking around her. She’s dog selective as she has made friends at the kennel.

Darla isn’t food aggressive, but she does eat quickly, so we spread her meal over a few minutes.

Darla’s charm and love for people make her irresistible. Everyone she meets falls in love with her instantly and she with them!

If you’re looking for a fun-loving, adventurous, and affectionate puppy to join your family, Darla is the perfect match. Don’t miss out on the chance to adopt this fantastic pup today!

Meet Odin!

Odin is currently 5 years old. He was adopted when he was a kitten, and recently returned, through no fault of his own.

Odin is just one cool cat! He will be your buddy, snuggle & purr, and he loves to play. Odin is ready for his new forever home!
