Finding loving homes for cats and dogs is our mission.

At CAWL, we always place animals in the best fit home. Never on a first come first serve basis.

  • Our mission is to serve the pets and people of Calvert County by operating a state of the art animal adoption and education center.

  • Our goal is to provide a friendly, caring environment to promote the adoption of unwanted, homeless animals and to be able to support these animals until they are adopted.

  • Our vision is to develop resources that allow us to offer educational programs that clearly define responsible pet care and respect for all animals.

Adoptable Cats and Dogs

Adoption hours are every Saturday from 11 am to 3 pm. All other times are by appointment only.

Want to Help CAWL?

We are always in need of volunteers to do animal caretaking, adoption counseling and even just walking our pups. If you want to help, you can volunteer, foster, or even donate some simple supplies or check out our wishlists!

Adoption Hours are every Saturday from 11:00 - 3:00!

Check out our awesome “Pets of the Month” below and come visit with them on Saturdays during our adoption hours! If you’d like to visit at another time, please email us at cawl@comcast.net to schedule.

Dog & Cat of the Month!

We like to showcase a special cat and dog each month that we know you will LOVE.

Meet Winnie!

Meet the adorable Winnie, a curious and friendly girl who is eager to explore the world and make new friends, both human and canine! With her playful spirit and loving heart, she is always up for an adventure and will be a loyal companion on all your journeys.

Winnie is a curious soul who is eager to learn and discover all that life has to offer. She is approximately 2-3 years old and was found as a stray in Virginia with her brother, Aspen. Now, she's ready for a fresh start and can't wait to find her forever family. This sweet girl is a bundle of joy and will bring warmth and happiness to those around her.

Meet Emerald!

Emerald came to CAWL from the Charles County Shelter. She is such a loving girl! She has also been with us for a very long time. Emerald is going on 1 year at the shelter. She really needs a loving home soon.

She would be best being the only cat in the home. Emerald prefers having your sole attention :) She is a playful girl who loves wand toys in particular and she is very affectionate.

Come and visit Emerald to give her some scritches and play with her during our adoption hours! You’re going to want to take her home.
